Step 1/4

Cook the Beef

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.

Prepare the Filling

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet with the cooked beef and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the mixture is well combined and heated through Add the julienned carrot, thinly sliced bell pepper, and chopped green onions. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the lime juice and mix well.

Wash and pat dry the lettuce leaves. Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture evenly onto each lettuce leaf. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
